Working in Clark County: Ashley Vizcaino, luxury restroom business owner

Working in Clark County: Ashley Vizcaino, luxury restroom business owner Here is a recent article about our business from the Columbian, you can find the original article here

Age: 28

Educational/professional background: I'm a Prairie High School grad and have a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting, and a master's degree in business administration from Concordia University in Portland. I grew up working in the family RV business with my dad and envisioned continuing that. With my degree, I'm also able to do contract accounting for small businesses. How — and when — you got started in your business: We were talking one day to a manufacturing representative at our family's RV shop, when he mentioned he'd seen trailers with restrooms for wedding venues. I thought it was a great idea. Starting a luxury restroom trailer company was a perfect fit. We already had the connections and vendors to call on, so we immediately started researching the market and how we could use the resources of our RV company to bring this new company to life. Formal Flush Restrooms was established in 2014. Our restroom trailers have many similar features to a recreational vehicle such as heat, air conditioning, flushing toilets, and running hot water. They've been a huge hit in the outdoor wedding market. It's been a smooth year, busy with no surprises.

Personal/business philosophy: "I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have." — Thomas Jefferson

Most rewarding part of job: Working with my family every day.

Most challenging part of job: Working with my family every day and always discussing work. But really, the good outweighs the bad.

One thing readers might find surprising about your work: People are incredibly appreciative of a nice restroom for their guests/event. We always hear our restrooms were the hit of the party.

One thing you'd like people to know about your work: It's a complete family affair. My dad delivers, my husband picks up, my sister helps me at the wedding shows, my mom helps with the cleaning and maintenance.

Best feature of my Clark County community: We appreciate the great dog parks in our area, thanks to the organization Dogpaw and their continuous efforts.

What would make your community a better place: Supporting our local economy by shopping and dining at the small businesses in our community. Realizing our support provides jobs for the families of people we know.

Favorite restaurant/pub/coffee shop/store: Farrar's Bistro is around the corner from our home. We love their happy hour. We went to Feral Public House a few weeks ago; the food and beer were excellent.

Pastime: Sunday Funday — My husband and I regularly have family and friends over to watch football or feast on a barbecue. We enjoy sharing our home with company.

Your favorite travel destination and type: Any destination I get to explore with my husband: Kyoto, Florence, Barcelona. Most enjoyable book/play/movie/arts event in past 12 months: Currently reading "The Lean Startup," by Eric Ries.

Something you'd like to do this year/within five years: This fall I'd like to spend some time exploring the Northwest in our travel trailer with my husband and golden doodle, Xavi. One word to describe yourself: Devoted.
